The University of Southern California is one of the world's leading private research universities. The campus at LA, California is  referred to as the University Park campus,  is located in the heart of Los Angeles, California's Downtown Arts and Education Corridor. The university utilizes a semester-based academic calendar and it is offering both on-campus and online education programs to let the students to have the option choosing their preferred learning format.

The Distance Education Network (DEN) of the University of Southern California enables students to earn a degree online while staying focused on their career career. It' distance learning programs are designed with innovative online delivery method to provide the students the most flexible way to earn a degree from anywhere they like and at the pace they are comfortable to progress through and complete their selected degree programs. The university offers over 30 master's degree programs, graduate certificates and professional courses. Most of these programs are available for online students. Even though on-campus attendance is not required to earn a degree online, students may come to campus to attend course, interact with other classmates and utilize the resources  at the campus.

The University of Southern California's online learning system operates unique studio classrooms to support both on-campus and online students to bring the students into a blended learning environment. The online courses are delivered in synchronous and asynchronous format. In the  synchronous online learning environment, students need to attend the online classes at the preset time so that they can have real-time interaction among classmates and with the lecturer. Whereas, the classes that run in asynchronous setting allow students to log-on to the classes at any time they like to download learning materials and submit the completed assignments and reports.
