BS in Information Technology - Network Management/Microsoft

This program is designed to provide the student with the same strong background in the application of computer technology to solving information technology needs as the basic IT degree, but with an emphasis in network design and operation. Graduates of this program have all the necessary skills to manage and provide technical support for a computer network. The focus is on Microsoft Networking and prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) exams.
Educational Goals for the Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology
The program will:
- provide students with knowledge of current information technology, the foundation knowledge of business operations and practices, the analytical skills to determine the information needs of a business and the problem-solving skills to apply technology to meet those requirements.
- provide students with methods to analyze, design, implement and maintain computer-based information systems to support the decision-making function of management.
- provide a balanced curriculum that addresses the knowledge and skills related to programming, databases, operating systems and networking in business environments.
- prepare students to secure positions commensurate with their emphasis areas (network administration/Microsoft, management information systems, network management/Microsoft, software development, Internet systems development).
- encourage students to participate in continuing education activities and maintain professional memberships.
- measure key student learning outcomes continuously and identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
