Geriatric healthcare is one of the fastest growing specialties in medicine. The number of people 65 years and older (currently about 34.7 million) will double during the next 30 years, and the number of Americans aged 80 and older is expected to rise from 9.2 million today to 31.6 million by the year 2050. Professional opportunities for Master of Geriatric Health graduates are numerous and varied.

Meeting the needs of the elderly population is of growing concern to communities throughout the United States. As the proportion of the elderly in our society grows, healthcare professionals will be spending more time managing their care. In general, older persons tend to require more healthcare services than younger people. There will clearly be a great demand for geriatric health managers. Care of the elderly will be one of the most challenging and exciting careers combining the biological, psychological, and social changes associated with growing older.

A.T. Still University-School of Health Management offers a Master of Geriatric Health degree that prepares the student to be a leader in the field of geriatric health. The online program is designed to meet the needs of the busy professional. It is a 33 credit hour, 11-course program with an academic degree plan that allows the student to complete the program in as little as 18 months up to 42 months.

The Master of Geriatric Health program courses include: Health Services in the U.S., Organizational Theory and Leadership, Health Care Law and Ethics, Health Care Information Systems, Health Delivery Systems, Managing Long-Term Care Organizations, Managerial Accounting, Epidemiology, Health Care Economics, Managerial Finance, and Human Resource Management.

Geographic Restrictions:
The School of Health Management welcomes out of state & international students. The Advanced Physician Assistant program is for U.S. licensed Physician Assistants.

Calendar Type:
They offer "year-round" enrollment. Students may start their graduate program in any of the academic quarters and may take offered courses either in the fall, winter, spring, or summer quarters.

Registration Details:
Students are to register for courses two weeks prior to the start of each quarter.
